Location: Salisbury Plain, Wiltshire
The Beatles filmed scenes for Help! at three locations on Salisbury Plain in Wiltshire, England between April 3-5, 1965.
During the three-day shoot, the group filmed performance scenes for “I Need You” and “The Night Before.” The location was chosen for its vast open landscape, and the scenes featured The Beatles performing in the middle of a field, protected by a formation of British Army tanks.
The Salisbury Plain shoot involved troops from 3 Division, Royal Artillery, who were on exercises there at the time. The army allowed their tanks and other equipment to appear in the film, creating one of the movie’s most memorable scenes.
