The Beatles Historic Collection of Signed 1963-1965 Contracts to Join the Performing Rights Society – Officially Becoming Composers.

Four separate documents, each one an Application for Membership to the Directors of the Performing Right Society, Ltd. in London.

These are some of the most important and historic documents signed by the Beatles. In order to compose/write music The Beatles had to officially be a part of the Performing Right Society.

Each document has been individually signed by John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr. The documents have personal information regarding their signee, and asks them what they are applying as – John and Paul’s each say “Composer and Author” and George and Ringo’s say “Composer.”

John and Paul’s applications were signed in 1963, George and Ringo’s are dated 1965 and 1966, respectively.

Paul and John’s signatures are in blue ballpoint pen, George’s signature in pencil and Ringo’s signature in black ink.

The reason all documents are dated differently is that all the Beatles released songs at different times. Lennon and McCartney being the earliest as they were the main songwriters of the group, with Harrison and Ringo following suit at a later time.
