A SWINGING PARTY high in the sky over London — that was the way Britain’s top pop stars celebrated the MM’s Pop Poll on Tuesday.
MILLIONS OF POUNDS worth of pop talent attended the party at the GPO’s huge new tower as this year’s winners were presented with their awards.
BEATLES PAUL AND RINGO were there to receive awards for four of the sections and so were Tom Jones, Dusty Springfield, the Troggs, Jimmy Savile, Cathy McCowan, Barry Fantoni and representatives from Saturday Club and Top Of The Pops.
AS THE TOWER restaurant revolved slowly, giving fantastic panoramic views of London, the
MM’s important awards were presented to the stars by Johnny Mathis.THE STARS CHATTED and enjoyed themselves at the annual function, hosted by the Melody Maker and attended by people from all sides of show business — record company executives, people from the instrument manufacturers, TV and radio personalities and many representatives of Britain’s press.
