About

Paul McCartney wrote the following foreword:

Whenever I think of the times in my early Liverpool days when John and I made the occasional visit to his mother, I also remember his two young sisters, Julia and Jacqui. My relationhip with them was a passing one but we always had fun and shared at least a few twinkling moments. When Julia and I met recently after a long time it was great to see that she still had that old family sparkle.

I’m glad to learn anything I can about John’s past. I know for instance how incredibly loving he was towards his mother: we were both smitten by her exuberant sense of fun and not least of all her banjo playing. In time I managed to persuade John not to play banjo chords on his guitar and eventually he trained his fingers to the correct guitar positions …

Great days. Great memories. Let it all flood back.
