About
From Glasgow Live, January 8, 2019:
[On January 8, 1963,] the Fab Four gave their first televised interview on teatime children’s programme RoundUp, which was broadcast out of STV Studios in Glasgow at the Theatre Royal.
Presented by Morag Hood and Paul Young, the programme was beamed live into Scottish homes between 5pm and 5.55pm, with Paul, John, Ringo and George performing second single ‘Please Please Me’.
The new single – which wasn’t to be released until a few days later on January 11, 1963 – was lip-synced by the band on the basis that it was much more difficult to mix the live music for the show. […]
The appearance on the programme came after the band had just finished their first headlining tour of Scotland, which had ended two nights earlier at Aberdeen’s Beach Ballroom.
