Wings has the fans flying in ecstasy.

Wings took off at Liverpool Empire Theatre last night when Paul McCartney came home.

From the moment he walked on stage the fans let him know he’d been away too long. It was a night of sheer magic as Paul proved together with Wings that they are one the world’s top groups.

Kicking off with “Venus and Mars” and then into “Jet” he had the capacity 2,500 crowd rocking in the aisles. They clambered over seats like lemmings to see their hero.

“Hi there, it’s great to be back,” said Paul.

Wings are a mercurial mixture. With Jimmy McCulloch lead guitar, Denny Laine rhythm, Joe English drums, and Linda, of course, on keyboards.

The blend is perfect and each one is a performer in their own right. For two hours they ran through a massive total numbers. It was sheer enjoyment all the way.
