About

This was the second of two nights at Tinley Park.

From paulmccartney.com, May 8, 2017:

Chicago, IL – Due to overwhelming fan demand, Paul McCartney and Live Nation have confirmed a second and final Chicago show has been added for Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre on July 26th, the day after Paul’s completely sold out July 25th show. The two dates are part of the U.S. leg of his ‘One On One’ Tour and are Paul’s first appearances in the region since his now legendary 2015 performance at Lollapalooza. […]

From celebretainment.com, July 27, 2017:

Sir Paul McCartney reportedly “demanded” that only vegan food was sold at his concert in Tinley Park on Wednesday (07.26.17) evening.

The 75-year-old rocker – who has been a longtime animal activist – has followed a vegetarian lifestyle for years, so it was hardly surprising that he requested that the only grub served up in the concourse of his gig in Illinois was meat free and dairy free.

A fan called Emily – who goes by the handle plantifulemily – took to her Twitter account during the concert last night to post a screenshot of a text that her parents, who attended the gig, had sent her of the compassionate menu on display at the event.

The delicious food on offer included buffalo cauliflower and fries ($12), vegan chili fries ($8) and vegan nacho grande ($10.50) as well as a bottle of red wine for $37.00.

Emily accompanied the shot with the caption: “my parents are at the Paul McCartney concert and he demanded that there only be vegan food, king! (sic)”

And this isn’t the first time the Beatles legend has tried to encourage other people to follow a vegetarian diet as he previously banned animal food products from his rider.

The meat-free demands were reportedly part of the terms and conditions of Paul playing in the province of Saskatchewan in Canada in 2013 – meaning he wouldn’t perform unless show organisers confirmed no meat would be eaten backstage.

He also made a similar demand in 2002 when he was on his ‘Driving’ USA tour as he said he didn’t want any furniture in his dressing room to be made of animals.

It reportedly said: “It is crucial you do not provide furniture made of any animal skin or print. Do not provide artificial versions of animal skin or print either. Only animal free materials are excepted. (cottons, denims, velour, etc.)”

From nwi.com, July 24, 2017:

On Monday afternoon in Tinley Park, tech, sound and lighting personnel were busy putting together one of the largest concert tours to hit the world’s stages.

The concert? Paul McCartney’s “One On One” tour. The crew was in town a day early to prepare for the beloved Beatle’s shows Tuesday and Wednesday at Tinley Park’s Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre.

“We’ll be recreating the stadium show here,” said Mark Spring, McCartney’s production manager. Spring said because of Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre’s size, the stadium-style show will fit perfectly in the venue.

“It’s going to look good,” he said as he surveyed the outdoor theater, which sports an expansive lawn. The theater seats about 28,000 people.

Spring, who’s worked with McCartney for 15 years, said the musical legend has the final say on everything about the concert.

“How the show looks is all him. He sits down and decides (what he wants),” Spring said. He said McCartney also will come out on stage prior to the show and check certain technical aspects, such as lighting and sound.

“All I do is put up the show,” Spring said.

On Monday afternoon, trucks already were parked at the theater as equipment was being unloaded. Spring said 24 trucks transport equipment and all other items for the concert. […] What can audience members expect from McCartney’s current show when it comes to technical matters?

“This one is much bigger. There are bigger video screens, bigger sound and bigger special effects,” he said.

Large LED video screens star on both sides of the stage and there also will be the addition of screens on the lawn for the Tinley Park show. McCartney’s concert features state of the art multimedia technology. The pyrotechnics audiences are used to seeing in any McCartney production, namely during his performance of  “Live and Let Die,” are also impressive.

Spring, who’s been to the Tinley Park venue many times in previous years with other artists’ shows, said it’s interesting to help build the McCartney show for Chicago-area fans.

“Putting on a stadium show outdoors is fun. And it’s the right thing to do here,” he said. […]
