Promotional film • For Tracey Ullman

Last updated on December 19, 2025

They Don’t Know” is a song written and first recorded in 1979 by Kirsty MacColl. It was released as a single by Stiff Records on June 1, 1979 but failed to chart. The song later gained widespread recognition through a 1983 recording by Tracey Ullman, which reached No. 2 in the UK and No. 8 in the US.

The promotional video for Ullman’s version featured a cameo appearance by Paul McCartney. Ullman would later appear alongside McCartney in his 1984 film “Give My Regards to Broad Street.”
