The previous day, August 13, 1966, The Beatles performed two concerts in Detroit. The Beatles left Detroit by Greyhound bus immediately after their second show. Their destination was Cleveland, Ohio, where they arrived at 2.30 am the following morning.
On this day, August 14, The Beatles performed one concert in Cleveland in front of 20,000 people.
A press conference was apparently scheduled but didn’t happen, even if some journalists were able to spend time with The Beatles, like Jerry Bishop for KYW.

Although he had followed the Beatles’ entire 1965 tour, in 1966, DJ Jerry Bishop was able to travel only to Detroit for their evening concert on August 13. He returned to his home base of Cleveland the following day and interviewed the group before their sole concert that evening. Paul explains that when he is laughing onstage, it’s usually due to a blunder, such as John botching the ending of “Yesterday” in Detroit. Naming Buck Owens, George Jones, Kitty Wells, and Hank Snow among his favorite performers, Ringo says he enjoys country music mainly for the stories it tells. Bishop warns John that while Municipal Stadium holds eighty thousand people, it might look empty tonight with only thirty thousand, but John doesn’t seem to mind: “Try sticking somebody else in there and see how many seats go!” He compares audiences in various countries, describing Japanese fans as high-pitched clappers, and comments on the increasing number of young men at their American concerts. Finally, Bishop and the boys gather for a farewell photo, inspiring Ringo to sing a line from Dudley Moore’s “Goodbye-ee” (theme song for the TV show Not Only … But Also …). Paul takes over with a rendition of “We’ll Meet Again,” with everyone joining in.
