From Daily Mail Online, December 5, 2015:

A few days later, Andy took a phone call at Radio One from Beatles producer Sir George Martin. He invited Andy to go to AIR Studios. When he got there, he found Paul waiting.

Andy says: ‘We both became very emotional. I felt awful for upsetting him. Paul needed me to reassure him that John still loved him. I told him that I was convinced he did.

‘I told him, “He talks about you in the interview. He is sarcastic, funny and irreverent, as only John can be. But there is no doubting his fondness for you. It was as if he couldn’t help wishing you were right there in the room with us.” ’

‘We had to face reality. The greatest songwriting partnership in the history of pop music was finished for ever.’
