The day before, Paul McCartney (acoustic guitar), Hugh McCracken (electric guitar), and Denny Seiwell (drums) had spent the entire afternoon recording the basic track of “A Love For You.” Dissatisfied with the result, Paul had the trio devote the morning of this day to record a perfect take.
In the afternoon, they turned to “Long Haired Lady,” a medley that combined two of Paul’s compositions, “Long Haired Lady” and “Love Is Long.” Within “Long Haired Lady” itself, several contrasting sections added further complexity. The constantly shifting structure of the combined piece required considerable effort to achieve a satisfying backing track. Paul again played acoustic guitar, with McCracken on electric guitar and Seiwell on drums.
Work was interrupted when Bob Dylan visited Paul and Linda, who, along with their children, had already arranged to join him and his family for dinner at his apartment in Greenwich Village.
Paul informed McCracken and Seiwell that they would not be needed for the next day, and recording of “Long Haired Lady” resumed on October 29.

This is a Timeline for 1970 – 1971 when McCartney started writing and planning RAM in the summer of 1970 and ending with the release of the first Wings album WILD LIFE in December 1971. [...] One thing I noted when exploring the material inside the deluxe RAM remaster is that the book contains many mistakes. A couple of dates are completely inaccurate and the story is far from complete. For this reason, I started to compile a Timeline for the 1970/1971 period filling the gaps and correcting the mistakes. The result is this Maccazine special. As the Timeline was way too long for one special, we decided to do a double issue (issue 3, 2012 and issue 1, 2013).
