Chase My Blues Away
Song facts
“Chase My Blues Away” was the working title of “Your Loving Flame” from the “Driving Rain” album. It was premiered during the 1999 Parkinson show, with Paul on Piano joined by David Gilmour on guitar part-way through.
Before playing the song, Paul declared that he was “only just kind of finishing it up – came to me in an hour or so – words and music“. He later said about the song:
‘Your Loving Flame’ was written on the 36th floor of the Carlyle Hotel in New York, just because I thought I was walking into a Cole Porter movie – the room had a grand piano and a plate glass window overlooking Central Park. I wrote that really fast. – Paul McCartney, 2001
