“The Day I Went Back To School” is an unfinished track written by Paul McCartney in 1969. It was recorded on January 14, 1969, during the Beatles’ “Get Back” sessions:
As Glyn tunes a guitar, Paul mentions that inspiration for a song can come anytime, and starts to play a new song he wrote that morning which he calls “The Day I Went Back To School.” Although quite rudimentary (and a bit too reminiscent of The Rolling Stones’ song “Connection”), this number, like “Oh, Baby I Love You,” is a fine example of Paul’s gift for melody.
