The final day of filming in Austria. On the slopes of Obertauern, the Beatles and their body doubles mimed their way through one more song sequence, including footage for Ticket To Ride, before the camera crew captured an unscripted outdoor restaurant scene featuring Ringo and his double. The footage from this particular scene would ultimately be left on the cutting room floor, never appearing in the released film.
For the final day of filming Help! in Austria, The Beatles and their doubles appeared in scenes on the ski slopes.
Parts of the famous ‘Ticket To Ride’ sequence was shot on this day, as was an unused scene in an outdoor restaurant featuring Ringo Starr.
That evening John Lennon and Ringo Starr gave a telephone interview to radio presenter Chris Denning. It was broadcast on Radio Luxembourg’s weekly show The Beatles.
The 20th was the last day of shooting, with the Beatles and their ‘doubles’ back out on the slopes, miming to part of ‘Ticket To Ride’ and generally being silly. The filming was then completed with an outdoor restaurant sequence involving Ringo and his ‘double’ (not in the finished film).
