Paul and Linda McCartney on holiday in Provence and Corfu
About
We’ve got nothing on for the next month and we’ve had a lot on for the past couple of months, as you might have heard from a couple of newspapers, it’s been high finance. But it seems to be going OK now, so I’m just taking a break to get away from it all.
Paul McCartney – Interview for BBC Radio Merseyside, May 15, 1969
From May 15 to June 17, 1969, Paul McCartney, his wife Linda, and her daughter Heather spent a month of holidays, first travelling to Provence (in the south of France) then to the Greek island of Corfu, staying in the village of Benitses.
While in Corfu, Paul completed the song “Every Night“, an early version of which he had performed in January 1969 during the “Get Back” sessions. It would be released on his debut solo album, “McCartney“, released in April 1970.
Some of the photos taken by Linda during those holidays appeared on the inner sleeve of the “McCartney” album.
Paul and Linda McCartney, with little six-year-old Heather, returned from their holiday at Corfu in the Greek islands on Tuesday, June 17, the day before Paul’s birthday.
During their vacation, they rented a £125-a-week villa, a mini car to drive around the island and a luxury speedboat for pleasure trips around the bays.
Observers report from Greece that Paul seemed thoroughly at home in his dual role of husband and father, while Linda spent many of her mornings preparing fairly authentic Greek-style lunch dishes for the family between the sunbathing sessions.
