About

From The Beatles Monthly N°258, October 1997:

Paul McCartney was among those who sent tribute messages to the organisers of the memorial ceremony at Liverpool Town Hall, on 22nd August, to mark the 30th anniversary of Brian Epstein’s death. Paul’s statement remarked upon the re-naming of Liverpool’s Neptune theatre in honour of Epstein.

Brian would love this, to have a theatre in his name. He was always very keen on acting and through his love of the theatrical world, he helped to stimulate and broaden the Beatles’ interests in our early days by introducing us to that
crowd. That helped to separate us from the rest of the groups.

Brian was a wonderful man who had an exceptional talent for guiding the careers of young people. I’m eternally grateful for the loving guide that he gave the Beatles, and it’s appropriate that through this award in his name, his guiding spirit will continue. So congratulations, Brian – your show goes on.
