Paul McCartney has made it a tradition to attend the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA) graduation ceremony each year. As the school’s Lead Patron, he is always photographed with the new LIPA Companions of the year.
LIPA awards Companionships for outstanding achievement and practical contribution to students’ learning.

As well as our amazing students, we were also able to honour five new LIPA companions at our graduation ceremony.
LIPA Companionships are awarded for outstanding achievement and contribution to student learning.
We were delighted to recognise:
Paul Duhaney, artistic director of Africa Oyé; the UK’s largest Festival of African Music and CultureTom Fletcher, founding member of McFly and composer of music and lyrics for Paddington: The Musical
Stephen Graham, BAFTA award-winning actor, producer and screenwriter (Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man, Adolescence, Boiling Point)
Lynette Howell Taylor, president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and LIPA graduate.
Cathy Tyson, BAFTA award-winning actor, director and founder of Brown Girls Films production company. (Blue Lights, Dune: Prophecy, Ride or Die)
