Mrs. Lillian Mills was hired in March 1967 when Mal Evans moved out. Mrs Mills was a widow from and living in Binns Road, Chiswick. She was Paul’s daily char lady and did not live in – she owned her own house (and two adjoining houses) around the corner from my family home and I knew her after dating her granddaughter Beverley in 1971 and on and off for 10 years. Mrs Mills and her granddaughter Beverly often talked about Paul McCartney and they only ever had absolutely 100% positive stories about Paul who was the kindest, nicest person to work for. It has been documented elsewhere that the granddaughter Beverley, who was 11 or 12 stayed with Paul and Jayne Asher for a week at the house and had the most wonderful time. Mrs. Mills once run out of cigarettes and was offered a cigarette from box on a coffee table which she smoked with a cup of tea before walking to the tube station to take the train back to Turnham Green. During that journey she felt very strange and kept giggling and latterly realised that that cigarette must’ve been a joint. She was in her 70s and found the whole episode hilarious. She also talked fondly of Mike McGear. Mrs. Mils died in January 1981.
