Song facts
From Wide Prairie liner notes:
The Fifties original of Poison Ivy by The Coasters was one of Linda’s favourites. She had a lasting affections for the doo-wop music of her youth, having spent many hours under the bedclothes with a transistor radio glued to her ear listening to Alan Freed’s Rock’n Roll Show. The song’s sense of humour is typical of many from that period.

Lyrics
She comes on like a rose
But everybody knows
She'll get you in dutch
You can look but you better not touch
Poison Ivy, Poison Ivy
Late at night while you're sleeping
Poison ivy comes a-creeping around
She's pretty as a daisy
But look out man, she's crazy
She'll really do you in
If you let her get under your skin
Poison Ivy, Poison Ivy
Late at night while you're sleeping
Poison ivy comes a-creeping around
Measles make you humpy
Mumps will make you bumpy
Chickenpox will make you jump and twitch
Glory, Hallelujah
You know it's gonna fool ya
Poison ivy will only make you itch
Gonna take an ocean
Of calamine lotion
You'll be scratching like a hound
The minute that you start to mess around
Poison Ivy, Poison Ivy
Late at night while you're sleeping
Poison ivy comes a-creeping around
Poison Ivy, Poison Ivy
Late at night while you're sleeping
Poison ivy comes a-creeping around
Creep-Creeping around
Creep-Creeping around
