On March 28, 1964, London’s famous waxworks museum Madame Tussauds unveiled life-size figures of all four Beatles. The Fab Four were the first pop group to be immortalized in the museum.
On April 29, 1964, the Beatles were photographed with their wax figures.
Madame Tussauds later lent the wax figures to artists Peter Blake and Jann Haworth in early 1967, to be included on the cover of the Beatles’ album “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band”.
Three of the heads – John Lennon, George Harrison and Ringo Starr – were rediscovered in 2005 after being lost for nearly two decades, and were auctioned for £81,500.
Madame Tussauds reworked the figures on several occasions throughout the 1960s, to reflect The Beatles’ ever-changing image.
The Beatles Diary Volume 1: The Beatles Years
"With greatly expanded text, this is the most revealing and frank personal 30-year chronicle of the group ever written. Insider Barry Miles covers the Beatles story from childhood to the break-up of the group."
If we modestly consider the Paul McCartney Project to be the premier online resource for all things Paul McCartney, it is undeniable that The Beatles Bible stands as the definitive online site dedicated to the Beatles. While there is some overlap in content between the two sites, they differ significantly in their approach.
