On this day, Stella McCartney was named Designer of the Year at the VH1/Vogue Fashion Awards. She received the award from David Bowie and her father, Paul McCartney.

Paul attended the ceremony wearing a white T-shirt with the words “About Flippin’ Time” printed in black — a humorous nod to the T-shirt Stella had worn earlier that year, in March 1999, when Paul was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. On that occasion, Stella’s shirt had read “About Fucking Time!”
