“Ringo & Friends at the Ryman” TV special, featuring a message from Paul

Last updated on March 12, 2025

In January 2025, Ringo Starr released “Look Up,” his first country music album. To promote the album, he performed two concerts on January 14 and 15 at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium. These performances were filmed and later compiled into a two-hour TV special titled “Ringo & Friends at the Ryman,” which includes short interviews with various artists, including Paul McCartney. The documentary premiered on March 10, 2025, airing on CBS and streaming on Paramount+ in the U.S.

Mister Ringo Starr, Sir Richard Starkey… Ringo was the first guy in The Beatles to really turn us on country music. We were kind-of very much into rock’n’roll, and he was heavy into country. So, he had a lot of records we didn’t have, and he was a big admirer of some of the country stars at the time, some of them we hadn’t ever heard of, I must admit. But anyway, he got way back into country music, so it was natural for him when we first recorded for his track to be a cover of Buck Owens’s song “Act Naturally.” And you know, the thing is it’s the story of Ringo. He came to do the film “A Hard Day’s Night” and he was the star, he was the one who acted naturally. So he’s got a long love, going way back, of country music. And so, it’s great he’s done a country album. So maybe my favourite song of his would have to be “Act Naturally”. Come on.
