“Man on the Run” is a 2025 documentary film focusing on Paul McCartney’s life and career during the 1970s. It was directed by Morgan Neville.
The film was announced in February 2023 and premiered on August 30, 2025, at the Telluride Film Festival in Colorado. Amazon MGM subsequently acquired the distribution rights.
Ahead of its general release on Amazon Prime Video on February 27, 2026, “Man on the Run” received a two-day theatrical release worldwide on February 19 and February 22, with the second date announced a few days after the first.
The theatrical version featured an exclusive 12-minute bonus conversation between Paul McCartney and Morgan Neville. During this exchange, Neville presented Paul with several items of Wings memorabilia, including a jacket worn by Paul during the 1972 Wings European tour, and the robot that had appeared on stage during the 1979 Wings UK tour.
A special screening took place in London on February 18, 2026, attended by Paul McCartney and Morgan Neville, along with other invited guests.
From Paul McCartney: Man on the Run:
What happens when you wake up the morning after leaving the most important rock band of all time?
In April 1970, Paul released his first solo album, McCartney. When asked what he’d do next, he said his only plan was to grow up. Man on the Run, from Oscar, Emmy, and Grammy Award-winning director Morgan Neville, captures Paul’s transformative decade in the wake of The Beatles’ break-up and the rise of his new band Wings.
Through stunning archival footage, Linda McCartney’s exceptional photographs, and interviews with Mick Jagger, Chrissie Hynde, Sean Ono Lennon, Mary, and Stella McCartney, all the living Wings members, and of course Paul himself, the film examines this time through a uniquely vulnerable lens.
Includes a bonus conversation with Paul McCartney & director Morgan Neville, exclusive to cinemas.
