From IMDb:

Jerry Stevens was an all-round Anglo-Italian multi-talented show-business entertainer popular during the 1960s to 1980s specialising in comedy impersonations, singing, acting and compere work. He was born Gerard Pinder in Sheffield, South Yorkshire to James and Marie Pinder. Before entering show-business he trained as a Pattern Maker at one of Sheffield’s largest Engineering firms – Davy United. Initially performing in UK Working Men’s Clubs in Sheffield (where he appeared with later legendary Irish comedian Dave Allen), he moved to London in the early 1960s where his career took off, appearing in numerous TV Entertainment Shows (such as, ‘Blackpool Night Out’ & ‘The Ken Dodd TV Show’ 1967). Compere work on the concert stage included a tour with The Beatles, The Moody Blues and The Paramounts (later Procol Harum) in late 1965. Jerry can be briefly seen entering the fab foursome’s dressing room in Ron Howard’s bio-movie, “The Beatles: Eight Days A Week – The Touring Years” (2016). Jerry Stevens was the compère for The Beatles’ 1965 UK tour. His role was to introduce the support acts — the Moody Blues, the Paramounts, Beryl Marsden, Steve Aldo, the Koobas, and the Marionettes — as well as The Beatles themselves.

I had done three weeks on Gerry’s Christmas Cracker in 1964 – a week in Glasgow, Leeds and Liverpool. Brian saw the show in Liverpool and he told me at the final night party that he wanted me to compère the next Beatles tour.

A native of Sheffield, Jerry Stevens presented The Beatles with two Top Stars Special awards during the Sheffield stop of the tour: one for being voted the most popular band, and another for “Help!” being voted the most popular single of the year, as chosen by readers of the Sheffield Star newspaper.

The Sheffield Star said they were presenting The Beatles with an award and as I was a local guy on the show could I do it? I said yeah, that would be great. They published a picture and it is one of my proudest pictures – there I am up on the stage surrounded by the four Beatles. I remember John saying to me – I’m not sure if it was that night – that it’s terrible, playing your home town. He didn’t really enjoy playing Liverpool, he said, because so many people knew them. A lot of people in showbiz felt like that, but I was quite surprised when he said that, though I knew exactly what he meant.

I had been doing pop package tours for almost three years, but I didn’t do any more after that. The Beatles was the last one. I remember thinking where can you go from here? When you’ve done The Beatles, what next? I figured any pop tour I went on after that may have been a bit of an anti-climax, and also there were rumours that The Beatles might not do a UK pop tour again, which did turn out to be true. It had all been a wonderful experience but now I was keen to move on to other avenues in the world of show business.
