From The Beatles performance at Belfast’s Ritz Cinema in 1963 – in pictures – Belfast Live:

At the height of Beatlemania, Belfast fans were treated to a performance by the supergroup on their autumn tour on November 8, 1963, in the Ritz Cinema.

Around 300 police officers were deployed that evening to stop the crowds from crushing the band, while nurses tended to fans who ended up injured in the frenzied excitement during The Beatles performance.

The euphoric scenes for the band’s visit were all the more remarkable given their rapid rise.

Their debut LP, Please Please Me, had only been released in March of the same year.
