About

Paul McCartney was invited to the very first Aspel & Company show, hosted by Michael Aspel. They spoke at great length about Paul’s movie, “Give My Regards To Broad Street“. Paul talked about his very first composition, “I Lost My Little Girl“, about his unissued song for Frank Sinatra, “Suicide” ; and performed Buddy Holly’s “That’ll Be The Day” joined by Michael Aspel and Tracey Ullman.

From nostalgiacentral.com:

Michael Aspel proved he was more than the bland charmer he sometimes appeared to be when he began Aspel & Company, a Saturday night chat show for London Weekend Television.

His touch was lighter and funnier than Parkinson‘s and more modest than Wogan‘s, whom he scooped on a number of occasions. […]

From Twitter – Broadcaster Michael Aspel sang with Paul McCartney and Tracey Ullman in very first Aspel & Company in 1984 at the ITV Studios on London’s South Bank. They performed together “That’ll Be The Day”, as Buddy Holly was one of Paul’s musical heroes. This very rare pic tells the story!
