Man on the Run” is a 2025 documentary film focusing on Paul McCartney’s life and career during the 1970s. It was directed by Morgan Neville.

Ahead of its general release on Amazon Prime Video on February 27, 2026, “Man on the Run” received a two-day theatrical release worldwide on February 19 and February 22.

The theatrical version featured an exclusive 12-minute bonus conversation between Paul McCartney and Morgan Neville. During this exchange, Neville presented Paul with several items of Wings memorabilia, including a jacket worn by Paul during the 1972 Wings European tour, and the robot that had appeared on stage during the 1979 Wings UK tour.

Morgan Neville: A few things, show and tell. I think we have to start with this.

Paul McCartney: Robbie. Robbie the robot. A very sensible idea of mine. What a great it would be if, when we were playing, a little robot came on.

Morgan Neville: I saw the footage, and I had no idea how, why…

Paul McCartney: Is it sill working?

Morgan Neville: You wanna make it work?

Paul McCartney: Yeah. Of course […] Maybe someone should have said “You don’t need that”. We’ve done a few of those. We decided we would have a [?] jet. They built it. It’s gonna hover over the audience. Wow, with smoke coming out of it. We tried it, we rehearsed with it, but it was just… It wasn’t the high-tech Star Wars thing we had expected, so that never made it. We had a few things like that.

Morgan Neville: So this guitar, you used it during the Wings Over The World tour, and that’s the one you used during the acoustic set of the show.

Paul McCartney: That’s a great guitar, I think it was for “Drink To Me”.

Morgan Neville: This jacket was from the James Paul McCartney TV special

Paul McCartney: Yeah, you know, we wanted to do a TV special, but we didn’t know what we really wanted to do. So we got together with these American producers, and now I think “what must I have thought?” It wasn’t like we were going to get together with Barbra Streisand, who would be into it.

Morgan Neville: And this jacket is from the 1972 European tour with Wings. And here are the pants.

Paul McCartney: Nice plush matter. […] The pants, I usually can’t get into. Sometimes, the jacket, I still can. Stella had a party for her 50th, which had to wear 70s clothes, and I was able to find something like this, and it fitted. […]

We were young, we were reckless, we were foolish, and we had no sense of fashion.

Morgan Neville: No, but you did have a sense of fashion.

Paul McCartney: Says you.

Morgan Neville: Well, says Stella too.

Paul McCartney: Says Stella? Oh, yeah.

Morgan Neville: We also talked about Linda’s sense of fashion.

Paul McCartney: Yeah, it was kind of off-beat. We were never really looking at Vogue and said “we will wear that”. In truth, we would more likely wear the opposite than what Vogue said. We wouldn’t care, we talked about our decisions about freedom. So to her, she would wear wool socks and the other from another pair. And people would say “oh, you’ve got your socks on wrong…” Yeah. It wasn’t a mistake. It was really whatever you felt like. There’s a lot of that in the fashion history. Vivienne Westwood or things like that… Very, whatever you want.

Morgan: We also found this. This is your passport for the entire decade in the 70s. But there is no Japan stamp. What I think I remember happening was that they claim you’ve never entered the country officially.

Paul McCartney: WOW […]
