March 10-11, 1965 • The Beatles travel from the Bahamas to London
1965 • For The Beatles • Directed by Richard Lester
On this day, The Beatles departed New Providence Island, flying from Nassau International Airport back to London. They had arrived in the Bahamas on February 22, spending fifteen consecutive days on location for the production of “Help!“. The group landed at London Airport the following morning at 7:05 a.m.
After a one-day stopover, The Beatles travelled to Austria on March 13 to continue filming “Help!“.

Fans get only a glimpse of the Beatles
NEARLY 200 screaming schoolgirls welcomed the Beatles yesterday when they flew into London Airport after filming in the Bahamas. But they caught only a brief glimpse of their idols. The pop group’s plane had been delayed for ninety minutes, and could not park in front of the Queen’s Building as planned. Another plane was in the way. Instead, it stopped half a mile away.
There was a minor outbreak of Beatlemania as the group walked to the airport terminal. Fans screamed and waved banners saying: “It’s great to have you back.”
One banner fell 50ft. from the roof and narrowly missed an elderly woman cleaner.
Ringo Starr carried a large, gold-coloured box. “A present for the wife,” he said. But he would not say what it was.
Tomorrow morning, the Beatles fly to Austria for two weeks for more work on their film.

Beatles in, out
THE Beatles, who flew back to Britain yesterday (Thursday) from the Bahamas, fly out again tomorrow to Austria. They will be there until a week on Monday (22), filming sequences in the Austrian Alps for their second picture. On their return, the Beatles will complete the film at Twickenham studios.
Both the Beatles and the Rolling Stones are scheduled for return visits to the Paris Olympia Theatre. The Beatles visit there on June 19 and 20 for two concerts, and the Stones go on April 17 and 18. (See page 16.)
