From Wikipedia:
Christine Ellen Hynde (born September 7, 1951) is an American musician. She is a founding member and the lead vocalist, guitarist, and primary songwriter of the rock band the Pretenders, and one of the band’s two remaining original members alongside drummer Martin Chambers.
Hynde formed the Pretenders in 1978 with Pete Farndon, James Honeyman-Scott and Chambers. She has also released a number of songs with other musicians including Frank Sinatra, Cher and UB40, and she released the solo album Stockholm in 2014. Hynde was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2005 as a member of the Pretenders. She performed at Live Aid in 1985. […]
In 1994, Chrissie Hynde recorded an environmental message which was included in a 13-part US radio series presented and created by Paul McCartney called Oobu Joobu. The show gave a unique insight into Paul’s world, featuring rehearsals, demos, unreleased recordings, conversations and cameos from many of Paul’s friends, and highlighted campaigns close to Paul’s heart such as vegetarianism. This message, newly visualised by Meat Free Monday, highlights how so much of the world’s edible crops, such as corn and soya, are fed to livestock and suggests meat reduction as a way to help feed more people.
This audio clip did appear on the Oobu Joobu program (episode 5 I think) and also was on the Oobu Joobu Ecology CD…but it did not have the music underneath and there was no phasing sound on Chrissie’s voice.
They’ve dropped in that same bit of recently unearthed Jeff Beck/Paul music that was used for the previously unreleased Jeff Beck statement.
So this technically is a new “mix” of the audio clip. There’s also about 10 more seconds of music than the Jeff Beck video.
