JOHN RONAYNE, who has died aged aged 77, was an outstanding violinist, initially in Ireland and subsequently in London. He toured Russia with the London Philharmonic and was leader of the RTÉ Symphony Orchestra and the Bavarian Radio Orchestra. […] He met great performers from other musical fields: Bing Crosby, Louis Armstrong, the Beatles, Sammy Davis jnr and, especially, Frank Sinatra, with whom he toured to Milan, Tehran, Tokyo – and The Point in Dublin. […]

John Ronayne played the violin on The Beatles’ “All You Need Is Love” in 1967.
