Hi Everybody
My Band The Asteroids played at the Aintree Institute in Liverpool on the same bill as the Beatles.
Has anyone got any info on this, We actually won a battle of the bands on the same night.

Hi Keith, what awesome memories! I'm afraid I didn't find much online regarding the battle of the bands or The Asteroids.
I found the following mention of the Asteroids and Aintree Institute:
Today in Merseybeat: June 3, 1961
At the New Temple Ballroom on 24 Dale Street, it's the grand opening of the Valentine Rock Club. Appearing are Dale Roberts & The Jaywalkers/ Ian & The Zodiacs/ The Big Three and "Swinging Cilla". The club would only last into August. The same night The Big Three were also at Aintree Institute with The Dynamos/ The Strangers/ Atherton's own Night Boppers and Cliff Roberts & His Rockers (who also played that night at the Orrell Park Ballroom with Faron's Tempest Tornadoes/ Ian & The Zodiacs and The Asteroids). At the Cavern it's Kenny Ball's Jazzmen and Gerry & The Pacemakers.
