Like in September 2023 and September 2024, Paul McCartney spent part of September 2025 in Los Angeles, rehearsing with his band in preparation for the new US leg of his “Got Back” tour, which began with a small show on September 26 in Santa Barbara.

From Vancouver Sun, September 29, 2025:
In March, Rob Frith discovered that a reel-to-reel tape he owned that was labelled ‘Beatles demo’ was just that: a high-quality copy of the Beatles’ legendary unreleased demonstration recording for Decca records in 1962. News of his discovery went viral, eventually garnering a story in The New York Times. A lawyer for Paul McCartney took note and phoned Frith.
On Sept. 18, Frith met with McCartney in Los Angeles and handed the tape over, free of charge.
“We hung out with him for like, 40 minutes,” said Frith, who owns the collectors store Neptoon Records in Vancouver. “He’s an absolute sweetheart of a guy. If you’re a Beatles fan and you thought he was a really cool person, he was even nicer than you could imagine, just such a down-to-earth, nice, sweet guy.”
Frith brought along his family (wife Vicki, sons Ben and Robert) to the meeting, which was at a warehouse where McCartney and his band are rehearsing for an upcoming tour.
“He asked if we were leaving that night or tomorrow,” said Frith, 70. “We said, ‘No, we’re actually here till Sunday.’ And he says, ‘Oh, do you want to come to our rehearsal tomorrow?’ ”
Then McCartney invited them to lunch before the rehearsal.
“So we end up having lunch with the band, and had a private show of their rehearsal, like they were onstage,” he said. “It was a huge warehouse stage.”
McCartney was impressed that Frith would just give him the tape, rather than try to sell it.
“He kept saying what a wonderful thing that we did,” Frith said. “You don’t really see this anymore, someone that’s willing to just give something up and not try to monetize it.”
But to Frith, having the chance to hang out with one of the Beatles was worth way more than money.
“I told Paul, ‘You changed my life as far as music. Basically, that’s why I have a record store, because of the influence from you guys.’”
Frith was asked not to take any photographs of the meeting or rehearsal, but the meeting was photographed by McCartney’s people, who said they would send him something.
He had been told McCartney probably wouldn’t sign anything, but Frith brought along a photo of McCartney and George Harrison from the Beatles’ Empire Stadium show on Aug. 22, 1964, and he signed it: “To Rob, thanks! Paul McCartney.”
Frith had purchased the Beatles tape years before but thought it was just a bootleg recording. In March he took it to Larry Hennessey’s home recording studio along with some other tapes and was shocked to find out it was a real Beatles’ recording, with incredible sound. […]
