Looking At Her” is a song from 2013 album “NEW“, produced by Giles Martin, one of the four products who worked on this album. Little is known about the making-of of this song, as neither Paul McCartney or Giles Martin have talked about it, in the various interviews they held to talk about the release of this album.

From the NEW biography:

[…] There’s ‘Looking At Her’, which starts out as a classic McCartney melody, then responds to the line “Me, I’m just losing my mind” with huge, explosive blasts of Moog noise. […]

Lyrics

If you ask her how it’s done

She won’t know

It’s like trying to catch the sun

On the water

She tries to explain

Then it happens again

Everybody’s looking at her

She’s got everybody talking about her

She’s good, she’s kind

She’s so refined

But me, I’m losing my mind

Though she haunts me like the sound

Of the rain

Or a river running down

To the ocean

I hate to complain

But it’s happening again

Everybody’s looking at her

She’s got everybody talking about her

She’s good, so fine

She’s sweet as wine

But me, I’m losing my mind

Doesn’t she know, why can’t she see

Look at the effect that she’s having on me

I’m not alone

I’m part of the crowd

Turning our heads as she walks down the street

She tries to explain

Then it happens again

Everybody’s looking at her

She’s got everybody talking about her

She’s good, she’s kind

She’s so refined

But me, I’m losing my mind

I’m losing my mind

I’m losing my mind

I’m losing my mind

Is this song about Jane Asher? It seems to fit how Paul felt fairly early in their relationship--and maybe a bit later when he seemed to be losing himself a bit to other influences and fell out of the relationship.

Hi Kirk, A very good question, and I don't have the answer now - Will need to do a bit of research ! As you can appreciate, the pages related to NEW are still very weak in terms of content ! Thanks !
