About
“1964: Eyes of the Storm” is a book of photographs taken by Paul McCartney, with an introduction by Jill Lepore. Rediscovered by McCartney himself in 2020, these striking visuals prompted him to approach the National Portrait Gallery in London, seeking their collaboration to host an exceptional exhibition.
Most of the photos featured in the book were taken during the Beatles’ 1964 North American tour, a period synonymous with the fervor of Beatlemania. The book also includes photos taken in Liverpool, which was the Beatles’ home city, and Paris.
The book was released in June 2023, coinciding with the commencement of the exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery.
