Liverpool

Appearance • By Bruce Springsteen

Last updated on June 18, 2025

Paul McCartney joined Bruce Springsteen on stage at Liverpool’s Anfield Stadium during the second of two shows, part of Springsteen’s “Land of Hope and Dreams” tour.

Introducing his special guest during the encore, Bruce told the crowd:

We are lucky tonight — we have a young man, a local young man from Liverpool who is going to guest with us tonight. I think he’s got a lot of talent, and I believe he’s going places. So let’s bring out Sir Paul McCartney.

Being in Liverpool and playing with a Beatle – that’s one of my dreams come true, right there.

Paul then appeared on stage to a roaring reception, joining Bruce and the E Street Band to perform The Beatles’ “Can’t Buy Me Love” and the rock ’n’ roll classic “Kansas City.”

After sharing a warm hug with Springsteen, Paul turned to the crowd and simply said, “Thank you, Scousers,” before leaving the stage.

The day before the concert, Paul and Springsteen paid a visit to the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA), which Paul co-founded. The visit sparked speculation that he might appear during the show — speculation that turned out to be true.

This marked the first time the two men had shared a stage since Glastonbury Festival in 2022, where Bruce made a surprise appearance during Paul’s headline set.
