On November 23, 1965, The Beatles gathered at Twickenham Film Studios to film a series of promotional films, later known collectively as the Intertel promos (named after Intertel, the video production company used for the shoot). Five songs were taped that day: their new double-A side single “We Can Work It Out” / “Day Tripper“, as well as earlier 1965 hits “I Feel Fine“, “Ticket to Ride” and “Help!“.
The Beatles filmed three promotional films for “Day Tripper.”
The first promo was never released, either officially or on bootlegs. Its existence is inferred from the fact that the two surviving versions are labelled “Take 2” and “Take 3” on their slates. It has been reported —although no primary source has been conclusively identified — that this missing version closely resembled the second promo. According to these accounts, the Beatles were dressed in the same outfits as in the second film, wearing black jackets and polo-neck sweaters.
