This was the fourteenth day of work on The Beatles’ new album “Rubber Soul.”
On October 24, The Beatles had worked on Paul McCartney’s “I’m Looking Through You“, completing a version with all necessary overdubs. However, on this day, during a session from 7 pm to 1 am, they decided to remake the track.
They recorded two takes, labelled Takes 2 and 3, of a new backing track, with Paul on bass, George Harrison on acoustic guitar, John Lennon on tambourine, and Ringo Starr on drums.
Take 3 was judged the best, and overdubs were added. Ringo contributed organ and matchbox percussion, George added electric guitar, and Paul recorded his double-tracked lead vocals. Although the track was completed, The Beatles would abandon this version as well and undertake a second remake on November 10.
