    2:25 • Live • L4 • "Twist And Shout" made its initial impact through a single by The Isley Brothers. The Beatles’ characteristic falsetto whoops had been sparked by Little Richard, but the vocal gymnastics on the Isleys’ "Twist And Shout" and their earlier American hit "Shout" also influenced the group’s sound in 1963. The Beatles used "Twist And Shout" as the rousing closer of their debut album and many live shows. They performed it nine times in BBC radio studios. This version was recorded on a day when, in less than seven hours, they recorded eighteen songs for three Pop Go The Beatles programmes.
