“Commonwealth” is an improvisation credited to Lennon-McCartney, recorded on January 9, 1969, during the “Get Back” sessions. The song was inspired by the political tensions in the UK at the time, particularly the controversial stance of Enoch Powell, a Conservative MP known for his anti-immigration views, and the contrasting leadership of Edward Heath, who would later become Prime Minister.
