Song facts

Love Mix” is a song recorded in 1987 during the sessions with producer Phil Ramone. It was released 10 years after, as the B-Side of the “Beautiful Night” single. But its history starts in the early Seventies, as “Love Mix” contains a snippet of a demo entitled “Waiting For The Sun To Shine” which appeared on the Piano Tape.

I know another of the songs, “Love Mix”, has a refrain that he’d had knocking around for years.

Yeah, that’s true. I mean, I think every great writer has things that are somewhere, sitting in scraps of tape or scraps of memory, of something that might be a good bridge someday or a good verse, and never finishing it. So sharing that with me was the way I found and heard a lot of these songs that were in development.

Love Mix” was included in the 2020 reissue of “Flaming Pie” but was not remastered.

Handwritten lyrics for “Love Mix”, from the 2020 Flaming Pie Archive Edition.

I Thought At The Time When You Walked In My Life
What's Gonna Become Of My Rainbow?
Now With The Help Of A Love And A Wife
I'm Gonna Get Some Of That Rainbow Now

Oh-oh-oh, Waiting For The Sun To Shine In The Meadow
Oh-oh-oh, Waiting For The Sun To Shine

If I Repeat What I Said At The Start
What's Gonna Become Of My Rainbow?
So To The Beat Of A Hurrying Heart
We're Gonna Get Some Of That Rainbow Now

Ooh!

Oh-oh-oh, We're Waiting For The Sun To Shine In The Meadow
Oh-oh-oh, Waiting For The Sun To Shine
Oh-oh-oh, Waiting For The Sun To Shine In The Meadow
Oh-oh-oh, Waiting For The Sun To Shine
