From paulmccartney.com:
The US Tour was Paul McCartney’s third North American concert tour of the 21st century and was in support of 2005’s acclaimed Chaos And Creation In The Backyard album. Paul “Wix” Wickens, Brian Ray, Rusty Anderson, and Abe Laboriel Jr. returned as the backing band, the first to remain fully intact for more than one solo McCartney tour, following the previous year’s summer jaunt in the UK. Remixes of Twin Freaks tracks played by DJ Freelance Hellraiser and a short film opened each show. The US Tour also featured a very memorable and historic moment when Paul became the first person ever to broadcast live music into space. The international space station crew, 220 miles above Earth, took a special live musical wakeup call from Paul McCartney on November 12th in a first-ever concert linkup coming from his show in Anaheim. The broadcast included ‘English Tea’, as well as the Beatles classic ‘Good Day Sunshine’.
From Billboard Magazine, September 3, 2005:
As Capitol Records aims to drive Paul McCartney’s new album, “Chaos and Creation in the Backyard”, to the upper reaches of The Billboard 200, label executives say their plans will be powered by McCartney’s sold-out, 37-city U S. tour—and his most vital and intimate songs in years.
McCartney’s U S Tour kicks Off Sept. 16 at the American Airlines Arena in Miami. just three days after “Chaos” streets in America. It is his first trek since he notched the top-touring artist in the world honors with his 2002 campaign and his first studio album since 2001 ‘s “Driving Rain.”
Lexus will sponsor the tour and, for the first time, a McCartney solo composition will appear in a TV ad, as the automaker will use “Fine Line,” the first single from the new album, for its TV campaign.
