About

Paul McCartney donated a signed “RAM” boxset to White Feather Foundation, a charity founded by Julian Lennon in 2007. The boxset was auctioned starting July 8, 2013.

From Mission For The Conservation Of Life – The White Feather Foundation:

Dad once said to me, that should he pass away, if there was some way of letting me know he was going to be ok – that we were all going to be ok – the message would come to me in the form of a White Feather. Then something happened to me, whilst on tour with the album, Photograph Smile, in Australia. I was presented with a White Feather by an Aboriginal tribal elder, from The Mirning people, which definitely took my breath away.

The White Feather Foundation was created for the purpose of giving a voice and support to those who cannot be heard. The tribal elders asked for my help, as I could bring awareness to their plight and to others who were suffering the same. Having had the White Feather bestowed upon me, I knew this endeavour was to be part of my destiny. One thing for sure is that the White Feather has always represented peace to me, as well as communication…

Julian Lennon, 2009

About White Feather Foundation:

This year, we are raising money to help people who are dying from lack of clean water and sanitation. This natural resource that is essential for life is in appallingly short supply. Nearly 5000 people, mainly children, die each day from preventable water-born diseases. Almost 1.2 billion people lack clean water, and this is increasing.

We already have projects amounting to almost €700,000 helping 1000’s and 1000’s of people, for which we need your help.

We will work with a number of organisations implementing water projects in countries such as Malawi, Haiti, Liberia, Somaliland, Chad, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Kenya among other places. We have been gathering information on projects in these areas, which we intend to provide solutions for in the coming year. The organisations we are discussing with, are Non Governmental Organisations, who are already doing work in these areas, they have the infrastructure and capabilities already in place from years of experience to be able to realise these projects. We will work in direct collaboration with these NGO’s to help provide relief in troubled areas.

These projects are ready to begin as soon as we achieve the goal of raising enough money at our Charity Ball.

The White Feather Foundation hopes to raise over €1 million this year towards predominantly water and sanitation projects.

We are very much at the beginning of our endeavours to achieve these objectives; we plan to pursue simple achievable projects, in collaboration with competent organisations, with proven track records and years of experience, working and researching in these troubled areas, as our foundation expands helping more and more people in need.

We resolve to spread awareness and responsibility, whilst working to raise money to ensure the continued success of our partners in the field. We would also like to help improve sanitation, develop sustainable agriculture and education. The idea is to start with water and help communities build from there. Water being the source, the essence from which all else flourishes.
