Listening party for “The Boys Of Dungeon Lane” in Liverpool

Opened in 1958 by Allan Williams, who would become The Beatles’ first manager, The Jacaranda club in Liverpool provided a stage for local acts including Gerry and the Pacemakers and Rory Storm and the Hurricanes, and played a part in the early careers of The Beatles. As of 2026, the club continues to operate as the headquarters of Jacaranda Records, functioning as a live music venue, record store, and bar.

One week before its official release, The Jacaranda hosted a listening session for Paul McCartney’s album “The Boys Of Dungeon Lane“. The record, in which Paul revisits his life before The Beatles, served as the basis for a collaboration to mark the release.

For the occasion, and with Paul’s official support, The Jacaranda temporarily renamed itself the Maccaranda. The venue also offered an exclusive repackaging of “The Boys Of Dungeon Lane” on black and pink vinyl, accompanied by a replica 1960 Jacaranda Club membership card.

I remember seeing Paul McCartney at the Isle of Wight Festival in 2010, standing in the crowd thinking there was nowhere else on earth I’d rather be. Hopefully, we’ll have a room full of people feeling that same way as they listen to The Boys of Dungeon Lane before anybody else. Get your tickets, be quick!
