On May 5, 2026, Paul McCartney was interviewed by Tom Holland, co-host of the podcast “The Rest Is History”, as part of the promotional campaign for his forthcoming album “The Boys Of Dungeon Lane“. The interview was recorded at Abbey Road Studios, on the same day as a listening session for the album. It was broadcast on May 15.
During the interview, a brief excerpt of “Salesman Saint” was played, marking the first public airing of the track. The song, drawn from the album, depicts Paul’s parents as he imagines them during the Second World War.
Paul McCartney had also recorded a separate interview with the related podcast “The Rest Is Entertainment“, which was broadcast the previous day, on May 14.

From Tom Holland on X, May 9, 2026:
Next Friday on @TheRestHistory: an interview with PAUL McCARTNEY! Among other topics, Paul discusses:
- the Second World War
- midwifery & the Welfare State
- dangerous milk floats
- the reliability or otherwise of the Bayeux Tapestry as evidence for the battle of Hastings.
So grateful to @PaulMcCartney for the interview – & for allowing me to hear him talk through his new album, The Boys of Dungeon Lane, in Abbey Road. Songs about his early days in Liverpool, a duet with Ringo, & the most joyous song written in the lockdown you will ever hear…
