The previous day, The Beatles and their entourage had a day off in Milan following their first two Italian concerts on June 24. On the morning of June 25, they travelled by road to Genoa, a journey of around 150 km.

Later that day, they held a press conference at the Hotel Colombia Excelsior before performing two concerts at the 25,000-seat Palazzo dello Sport. The first began at 4 p.m. and the second at 9 p.m.
