The Beatles then began work on “Wait“, primarily a song by Paul. The backing track featured Paul on bass, John and George on electric guitars, and Ringo on drums. Four takes of the backing track were recorded, with all instruments placed on track one of the four-track tape. Take 4 was judged the best and received vocal overdubs by John and Paul, recorded on track three. It was then mixed the following day. Ultimately, however, the song was not included on the “Help!” album. It would receive further overdubs in November 1965, when The Beatles decided to revive the track for the “Rubber Soul” album.
