Freshen Up Tour

About

From Wikipedia:

Freshen Up was a concert tour by English musician Paul McCartney that commenced on 17 September 2018 with a four-concert leg in Canada. The tour was McCartney’s first tour after the release of his album, Egypt Station. Prior to the announcement of the tour, McCartney revealed he would headline the 17th Austin City Limits Music Festival at Zilker Park, in October 2018. In November 2019, the tour was extended into the following year, to include McCartney’s first concerts in Italy since his Out There tour. A headlining appearance at the 2020 Glastonbury Festival was to be the final concert of the tour; however, it was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which later led to the cancelation of all the concerts scheduled for 2020.

From paulmccartney.com, July 3rd:

Paul will make his eagerly anticipated return to the road with his new #FreshenUpTour. Four confirmed dates were announced this morning, marking Paul’s first series of live dates since the ‘One On One’ tour that played to some two million fans over the course of 2016 and 2017.

The ‘Freshen Up’ tour will also be Paul’s first outing following the release of his brand new studio album, Egypt Station, out September 7th on Capitol Records.

‘Freshen Up’ will begin September 17th at the Videotron Centre in Québec, Paul’s first show in the Canadian capital since his 2013 stop at the Plains of Abraham on the ‘Out There’ tour. From there, Paul will visit Montreal for the first time since the ‘On The Run’ tour in 2011 to play the Bell Centre on September 20th, before returning to Winnipeg September 28th to play Bell MTS Place, his first performance in the capital of Manitoba since 2013. ‘Freshen Up’s’ Canadian itinerary will conclude with a visit to a final Canadian capital city, Edmonton, Alberta, for a September 30th show at Rogers Place—Paul’s first appearance in the city since 2012.

Well, I was thinking about this tour an I was saying to my promoter Barrie [Marshall]: I’m probably going to do ‘Hey Jude’, I’m probably going to do ‘Let It Be’, we’re probably going to do ‘Live And Let Die’… Or: the other option is, we leave them out and we do something completely radical. But I think for people coming to the show they might expect those songs – and if it was me I think I’d like to see those in the show. So I realised that it wouldn’t so much be a radically new show as it would a freshen up. So, re-looking at the production, introducing some songs off the new album, obviously – and generally rejigging things so it’s a fresh new show without actually being a radical rethink of what I bring to an audience.

Thanks @tom. I have removed the upcoming concerts, and summarized this on this post - https://www.the-paulmccartney-project.com/2020/05/2020-freshen-up-european-summer-tour-cancelled/ :( Too bad, but expected considering the situation...
