On Christmas Day 1965, Top Of The Pops aired a special edition reviewing Britain’s best-selling records, leading artists and major music news from the previous year. The programme featured the No. 1 singles of 1965, with performances by The Beatles, as well as The Byrds, Ken Dodd, The Moody Blues, The Rolling Stones, Sandie Shaw and The Walker Brothers.
Four promotional films by The Beatles were broadcast during the programme. All had been filmed in late November 1965 and featured “Help!“, “Ticket To Ride“, “I Feel Fine” and “Day Tripper“.
