On January 12, Paul and Linda McCartney travelled to New York to celebrate the birthday of Linda’s father, Lee Eastman. The Evening Standard misreported that the couple were heading to Florida for a holiday.

According to the book “The McCartney Legacy: Volume 1: 1969 – 73“, Paul and Linda had lunch with songwriter Hal David during their brief stay in New York.

They returned to London on January 15.

Two days later, on January 17, Paul resumed work on his debut solo album, having initially begun recording in late December 1969 before taking part in the final Beatles sessions in early January.


BEATLE Paul McCartney, hiding behind a bushy beard, and family dodged the limelight today when they flew from Heathrow Airport for a holiday in Florida, by timing their departure to coincide with the arrival of the show-stopping Jumbo jet.
