About
From paulmccartney.com, November 25, 2008:
A guitar which was specially hand-made for Paul McCartney in the 1990s has been signed and donated to the charity ActionAid to help it’s work fighting poverty worldwide.
The beautiful, black acoustic/electric guitar with mother of pearl inlay was made especially for Paul McCartney by Takamine Guitars and has his name inscribed in mother of pearl on the fret board. This is one of only two custom-made guitars presented to Paul after one of his tours in the 90s. He has played both guitars and liked them so much he insisted on keeping one for himself and donating one to charity.
The guitar will be auctioned at a fundraising event being organised by ActionAid tonight (Tuesday 25th November) in London. Call My Wine Bluff is an exclusive evening of wine tasting and laughter. Guests will have the chance to test their knowledge of wines from around the world as they compete against each other and the ‘expert’ panel at this event, which has been set up by ActionAid Ambassador and Ex MD of Bottle Green, Jerry Lockspeiser.
The audience will taste nine wines in total: one sparkling, four reds and four white wines. These will be tasted blind, one after the other and at the same time as the panel. Members of the audience will listen to humorous stories from the panel and will then vote on the ones they believe to be correct.
In this high-spirited take on the classic TV game show, Call my Bluff, special celebrity guests will include Emma Thompson, David Mitchell, Sue Perkins, Sean Lock, Hugh Dennis and Tim Brooke-Taylor who will try to dupe guests into believing a story behind the wines they will be tasting.
Guests, rival panellists and resident wine experts will use a voting system to guess who is telling the truth. The table with the most correct guesses wins a luxury prize.
Those who manage to snap up tickets to ActionAid’s ‘Call My Wine Bluff’ will be treated to an exceptional evening of entertainment, a pre-dinner drinks reception and meal.
Paul’s guitar will be auctioned in a live auction of money can’t-buy-items and experiences, raising vital funds for ActionAid’s work with poor and vulnerable people worldwide.
This special evening is perfect for those who want to entertain clients, network or engage in a bit of team building. Tickets are £295 each or £2,500 for a table of 10.
